1885 Italianate Victorian National HIstoric Landmark Property.
Built by George Kennard in 1885, a prominent businessman who ran a coffee, tea, and spice business.
In 1910, the property was purchased by Ernest Chase, founder of Chase Candy Co and inventor of the Cherry Mash Candy bar.
After years of neglect the property was almost demolished in 1995 as a result of a severe fire. It was salvaged and underwent a 6 year restoration period.
Today it is an elegant lodging establishment of the highest quality and service, private meeting facility, and historic tour home for bus groups.
